Job description

Position Description

Will provide cloud programming and software engineering in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Duties include:

  1. Design and build CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large- and small-scale systems.
  2. Design and implement fully automated enterprise pipelines using a suite of DevOps tools, including experience working with AWS DevOps Tools and GitLab.
  3. Collaborate with the team to develop, establish, and support a cloud platform using various programming languages and cloud-native technologies. Develop and implement systems using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, CDK, SDK, Terraform, etc.).
  4. Automate cloud deployments and build CI/CD pipelines to support cloud-based workloads.
Required Skills

7+ years of relevant experience.

  • Deep knowledge and expertise with METexpress, METviewer, Probabilistic viewers, VLab.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident and able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to access applicable government facilities/systems.
Desired Skills
  • Understanding of NOAA Water Initiative/COASTAL Act.
  • Understanding of NOAA Precision Navigation/Integrated Navigation Services.
  • Experience using data assimilation tools like Marine JEDI, Hurricane Supplemental, SIP.
Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.

Location

This position supports work at NOAA's College Park, MD facility and may be performed remotely with 0-25% travel.

Salary

The salary range for this role is $48,000 - $269,000 per year. This is a good faith estimate based on similar roles across the organization. Factors influencing the offer include location, scope, responsibilities, candidate's experience, education, and key skills.
