Nightwing in Maryland seeks a Level 2 Cloud Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance complex cloud-based Big-Data systems. You will contribute across back-end processing, information retrieval, and MapReduce analytics within a team-driven environment.

The role requires TS/SCI with poly, 8 years in software engineering (2+ years in Big-Data Cloud tech), and a bachelor’s degree in CS or related field (or 4 extra years of cloud experience in lieu).

Qualifications

• Current TS/SCI with polygraph.
• Eight (8) years of software engineering experience on programs of similar scope, with two (2) years in Big-Data Cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.
• Four (4) years of additional cloud software engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth knowledge of Information Retrieval and assist the team in designing, developing and testing Cloud IS&R.
• Implement complex workflows that manage Cloud MapReduce analytics.
• Implement code that interacts with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
• Oversee one or more software development tasks and ensure timely, compliant delivery.
• Recommend improvements to documentation and software development process standards.

The Cloud Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software Big-Data Cloud systems based upon documented requirements. Directly contributes to all stages of back-end processing analyzing and indexing. Provides expertise in Cloud Computing, Hadoop Eco-System including implementing Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval, and Object Oriented Design. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

** An active TS/SCI with Poly security clearance is required. **

The Level 2 Cloud Software Engineer (SWE) shall possess the following capabilities:

• Provide in-depth knowledge of Information Retrieval; assisting the software development team in designing, developing and testing Cloud Information Retrieval.
• Implement complex workflows that manage Cloud MapReduce analytics.
• Implement code that interacts with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
• Oversee one or more software development tasks and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project.
• Make recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.

Required:

• Current TS/SCI with polygraph.
• Eight (8) years of experience software engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity, two (2) years of which must be in programs utilizing Big-Data Cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Four (4) years of additional cloud software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Salary & Benefits

The salary associated with this position ($122,000 - $253,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
