Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. in Playa Vista, CA, is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer, AWS GovCloud, to design, implement, maintain, and optimize secure cloud environments supporting U.S. government missions.

You will ensure compliance with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, RMF, and DoD IL-4/IL-5 across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and multi-cloud setups, while integrating with SOC2, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and GDPR controls. On-site work five days a week, with DevSecOps collaboration and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, or related field, or 5+ years equivalent experience
• 5+ years in cloud security engineering with hands-on work in AWS GovCloud, Azure, GCP or multi-cloud
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills; able to work in mission-critical environments

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure cloud architectures across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and Google Cloud with least-privilege, encryption, and network segmentation
• Maintain compliance with NIST 800-53 Rev. 5, FedRAMP, DoD IL-2/4/5, RMF, and SCCA requirements
• Configure IAM/RBAC, JIT access, Key Vaults, and Zero Trust across cloud environments
• Deploy and optimize cloud-native security tools (Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Sentinel, AWS GovCloud services, CSPM/CWPP, Elastic SIEM) for threat detection and response
• Perform vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and continuous monitoring against STIGs, CIS, and NIST controls
• Develop, maintain SSP, SAR, POA&M, and risk/compliance reports for cloud operations
• Respond to IoCs and threats; conduct root-cause analysis and preventive control implementation
• Lead security reviews and audits across Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments to sustain compliance
• Collaborate with DevSecOps and development teams to integrate security in CI/CD and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Provide guidance on secure cloud design patterns and best practices
