Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a System Development Engineer to stand up a new AWS service. You will design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure to provide a highly available platform for our customers' and our team's workloads.

This role requires an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph, and involves on-call duties as we ensure fault-tolerant systems. You will work within the PEET team on scale and reliability for large cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional).
• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure, tools and systems to provide a highly-available and resilient platform for our customers' and our team's workloads.
• This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week in every six. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.
