Job summary

Extreme Networks, Inc. is seeking a Principal Cloud Operations Engineer to lead cloud infrastructure design and operations for large-scale deployments in a hybrid San Jose setting.

You will drive cloud architecture, cost optimization, and reliability across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, with hands-on leadership in Kubernetes deployment automation and containerized microservices. The role demands 8+ years in CloudOps/DevOps, strong Linux and security fundamentals, and expertise in Terraform,

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 8+ years in CloudOps/DevOps.
• Hands-on with AWS or other public clouds (Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of Linux, security and networking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in cloud architecture, operational excellence, reliability, and cost optimization across large-scale production environments.
• Stay current with industry trends; leverage AI and cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) to improve efficiency, scalability, security, resiliency.
• Design and ensure secure, reliable, high-performance cross-region cloud communication.
• Configure, tune, and operate middleware including SQL/NoSQL, messaging, and streaming platforms.
• Evaluate and lead adoption of CloudOps/DevOps tools, automation solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide hands-on support as needed.
• Drive RCA, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with cloud architects on design and reviews; partner with Dev, QA, SRE, and providers.
• Design, implement, evolve deployment automation for Kubernetes microservices.
• Improve service availability, performance, and scalability through automation and capacity planning.
• Analyze system performance and deliver actionable optimization suggestions.
