Vultr is seeking a PHP Software Engineer to build and maintain the backend systems powering Vultr's cloud platform. The ideal candidate has solid experience with PHP 8+ and MySQL, familiarity with modern API design, and a passion for writing clean, reliable code.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional PHP development experience with PHP 8+.
• Strong MySQL expertise and high-traffic database design.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance PHP applications serving millions of API requests daily.
• Design and optimize MySQL schemas, queries, and indexing.
• Implement RESTful APIs with OpenAPI standards.
• Design asynchronous workflows, background jobs, queues, and event-driven integrations.
• Participate in architecture discussions and incident response.
• Contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Write clean, tested code with unit and integration tests.
