Vultr is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale the backend systems powering Vultr’s cloud platform. You will leverage PHP and MySQL to serve millions of API requests daily and implement RESTful APIs with modern OpenAPI standards.

You will mentor engineers, participate in incident response, and collaborate with frontend and product teams to deliver scalable solutions. This role offers a high-visibility opportunity in a fast-growing cloud infrastructure company.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in PHP and MySQL for high-volume API services.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs with OpenAPI.
• Ability to mentor engineers and participate in incident response.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance PHP applications serving millions of API requests daily.
• Architect and optimize MySQL database schemas, queries, and indexing for low-latency access.
• Implement and maintain RESTful APIs following modern API design standards, including OpenAPI specs and versioning.
• Design and implement asynchronous workflows, background jobs, queues, and event-driven integrations.
• Participate in architecture discussions, incident response, and root-cause analysis for production issues.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define technical requirements and scalable solutions.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and champion engineering best practices.
• Write clean, well-tested code with comprehensive unit and integration test coverage.
