Job summary

Kforce Technology Staffing seeks a Software Engineer PHP for its team in West Palm Beach, FL. You will design, build and maintain high-performance PHP applications, implement RESTful APIs, and work with Laravel, Symfony or Slim.

The role emphasizes MySQL optimization, Redis caching, and containerized deployments with Docker and Kubernetes in a distributed environment. Candidates should have strong communication skills and collaborate across distributed teams; experience with OpenAPI, CI/CD

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with PHP 8+ and major frameworks (Laravel, Symfony, Slim).
• Experience building RESTful APIs using current design standards.
• Experience with Redis caching, distributed locking, queues, and performance tuning.
• Cloud platforms experience (Vultr, AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Strong MySQL knowledge including schema design and query optimization.
• Familiarity with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS, Redis Streams) and async processing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Git workflows.
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance PHP applications handling millions of API requests daily.
• Design and tune MySQL schemas, queries, and indexes for speed and reliability.
• Implement and support RESTful APIs with OpenAPI and versioning best practices.
• Develop asynchronous workflows, background jobs, queues, and event-driven integrations.
• Participate in architecture discussions, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Write clean, well-tested code with unit and integration tests.
