Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Digital Development Engineer II to improve reliability, resilience, and performance of critical applications and infrastructure. You will establish SLIs/SLOs, monitor and alert, and participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and MTTR improvements.

The role emphasizes automation, CI/CD, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive reliability and scalable delivery of software in a cloud-native environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years experience in software engineering & backend development.
• Experience with Java/Spring Boot and/or Node.js/TypeScript.
• Experience with AWS and cloud-native technologies.
• Experience with Kubernetes / containerized environments.
• Experience with REST APIs and microservices.
• CI/CD and deployment automation.
• New Relic or similar observability/APM technology.
• Splunk / centralized logging.
• Distributed-system troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation to reduce manual operational work and improve reliability.
• Create and maintain operational standards, procedures, and runbooks.
• Analyze major releases and production changes for potential availability and reliability risks.
• Identify application dependencies and potential failure points across distributed systems.
• Develop and implement resiliency and testing strategies for applications and infrastructure.
• Partner with application, platform, infrastructure, and business teams to drive reliability improvements.
• Contribute to CI/CD and automation workflows that enable reliable software delivery.
• Help drive SRE principles and reliability practices across engineering teams.
