Job summary

Vultr is seeking a highly skilled Platform Engineer - Cloud Native to harden and scale its global cloud infrastructure. The role emphasizes security-minded Kubernetes, container runtimes, and automation across the full stack.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in platform engineering or DevOps, with Terraform, Ansible, Go, and CI/CD pipeline design. This is a high-visibility position in a fast-growing cloud company offering strong benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes administration and internals.
• Proficiency in Go and scripting languages (Python Bash).
• Deep knowledge of container security including image scanning runtime isolation and admission control.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform Ansible) and CI/CD pipeline design.
• Familiarity with observability stack (Prometheus Grafana alerting) and incident response practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills across networking load balancing and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production-grade automation using Ansible Terraform and Go.
• Develop and enhance core services behind VKE VLB (HAProxy) VCR (Container Registry) and Inference.
• Engage deeply with Kubernetes internals (scheduler kubelet controllers CRDs).
• Design implement and improve container runtime integrations (containerd runc OCI).
• Architect CI/CD improvements and deployment pipelines for large-scale systems.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across networking load balancing containers and distributed systems.
• Harden platform infrastructure through security best practices including vulnerability scanning container image signing admission controllers and secrets management.
• Contribute directly to Vultr's open-source ecosystem (terraform provider crossplane vultr-cli govultr).
• Improve overall reliability observability and operability of cloud-native services.
• Collaborate with product platform and infrastructure teams on feature delivery.
