Job summary

State Street in Massachusetts seeks a Head of Investment Accounting Engineering to design, develop, and operate a cloud-native, scalable investment accounting platform supporting multi-asset class accounting, data management, controls, and reporting across global operations.

The ideal candidate combines deep domain knowledge of enterprise investment accounting with strong engineering leadership to scale teams, processes, and platforms ensuring accuracy, auditability, and performance.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of software engineering experience, including 10+ years in investment accounting or financial platforms.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale finance/accounting platforms.
• Deep knowledge of NAV, reconciliations, and multi-asset support.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, APIs, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on DevOps, Product Security and DataOps: CI/CD, Kubernetes, automation.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools (LLMs, Agents) and integrating AI in workflows.
• Strong leadership and ability to scale teams across geographies.
• Experience partnering with Finance and Product to meet budget / P&L targets.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the long-term platform vision and strategy for a next-generation product.
• Lead engineering teams building accounting engines, rules, event processing, reconciliation, and reporting services.
• Drive selection and adoption of Snowflake, Kafka, Postgres, Kubernetes, Redis and related tech.
• Develop embedded AI capabilities within accounting workflows (reconciliation, anomaly detection).
• Ensure reliability, availability, and real-time processing with cost efficiency.
• Partner with Product and Operations to define data models, SLAs, and controls.
• Lead integration across front, middle, and back-office systems and ensure regulatory compliance.
