Job summary

TEGNA is seeking Microservices Developers to build and operate backend C#/.NET services powering content management and streaming platforms. You'll create Azure Function Apps, implement event-driven workflows with Service Bus, and develop RESTful APIs in a cloud-native, Kubernetes-based environment.

Join a cross-domain team, contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and testing, and help operate production services with a focus on performance and reliability in a hybrid Azure/AWS setup.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend services.
• Proficiency in C#/.NET; serverless/Azure Functions is a plus.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and distributed systems concepts.
• Exposure to messaging patterns (Service Bus, queues, pub/sub).
• Cloud-native development on Azure and/or AWS; hybrid stack growth.
• Experience with Git-based source control in an Agile/Scrum team.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or Terraform; testing habit a plus.
• Media, streaming, or high-traffic platform experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and maintain C#/.NET microservices, primarily as Azure Function Apps.
• Implement event-driven workflows using Azure Service Bus and other messaging patterns.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs, and contribute to containerized, cloud-agnostic services on Kubernetes.
• Turn stories and epics into working implementations with design reviews and testing.
• Operate services in production: monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance/reliability tuning.
• Work cloud-native across Azure/AWS environments, following infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum team with disciplined source control and code reviews.
