Job summary

TEGNA is hiring a Senior Developer to design, build, and operate backend microservices on Azure Functions powering its Content Management platform. You’ll own event-driven service design with Azure Service Bus, lead technical design across features, and mentor offshore engineers in a fast-paced Agile environment.

You’ll collaborate with CMS and Cloud architects to modernize legacy systems, ensure reliability and observability, and help shape scalable, cloud-native services across high-traffic

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend services.
• Strong hands-on C#/NET, serverless/Azure Functions and RESTful API design.
• Experience with Azure Service Bus or equivalent pub/sub systems.
• Understanding of reliability, idempotency, concurrency, observability in distributed systems.
• Experience in Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
• Mentoring engineers and elevating team practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate C#/.NET microservices as Azure Functions for content workflows.
• Own event-driven service design using Azure Service Bus with proper retries and idempotency.
• Lead technical design, standards for code quality, testing, and observability.
• Mentor mid-level and offshore developers to raise team maturity.
• Translate epics into actionable stories with the team lead.
• Modernize legacy content systems into scalable, event-driven services.
• Collaborate with CMS Solutions Architect and Cloud Architect on infrastructure realization.
