Job summary

TEGNA Inc. is seeking Microservices Developers to design, build, and operate backend C#/.NET services powering content management and streaming platforms. You will develop Azure Function Apps, implement event-driven workflows with Azure Service Bus, and contribute to RESTful APIs and containerized services on Kubernetes.

You’ll work in a collaborative Agile team, participate in design reviews, and help ensure reliability and performance in production across Azure and AWS environments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend services.
• Working proficiency in C#/.NET; experience with serverless/Azure Functions is a plus.
• Understanding of RESTful API design and basic distributed-systems concepts.
• Exposure to messaging or event-driven patterns (Service Bus, queues, pub/sub) is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native development (Azure and/or AWS).
• Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum team with Git-based source control.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or Terraform, and a habit of writing tests, are pluses.
• Media, streaming, or high-traffic platform experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and maintain C#/.NET microservices, primarily as Azure Function Apps, across content management and streaming domains.
• Implement event-driven workflows using Azure Service Bus and other messaging patterns.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs, and contribute to containerized, cloud-agnostic services on Kubernetes.
• Turn stories and epics into working implementations and participate in design discussions, code reviews, and testing.
• Help operate services in production: monitoring, troubleshooting, and addressing performance and reliability issues.
• Work cloud-native across our Azure/AWS environment, following infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum team with disciplined source control: clear branching, pull requests, and code review.
