Vanguard Group in Wayne, PA is seeking a seasoned leader to head a geographically distributed team of approximately 10 engineers focused on Linux and Google Cloud infrastructure operations. You will drive daily production stability, monitor systems, respond to alerts, provision infrastructure, and manage incidents with business impact in mind.

You will provide technical direction across Linux, GCP, automation, and cloud operations, advance DevOps and SRE practices, mentor staff, and collaborate

Competenze

• Eight+ years related work experience.
• Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure, cloud operations, DevOps, SRE, Linux engineering, or related technical discipline, including experience leading technical teams.
• Proven Linux systems administration and production troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or comparable hyperscale cloud.
• Experience leading production operations involving monitoring, alerts, incidents, infrastructure provisioning, availability, and service reliability.
• Ability to provide credible technical direction while coaching, developing, and managing infrastructure or cloud engineers.
• Experience with automation, scripting, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, or related DevOps practices.
• Experience collaborating across distributed teams and operating effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Experience with multi-cloud environments, including AWS or Microsoft Azure, preferred.
• Experience supporting AI/ML cloud platforms or services such as Google Gemini, preferred.
• Financial services industry experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and support a geographically distributed team of approximately 10 engineers responsible for Linux and GCP infrastructure operations.
• Oversee daily production operations, including monitoring, alert response, infrastructure provisioning, incident management, and service restoration based on business impact and severity.
• Provide technical leadership across Linux system administration, Google Cloud infrastructure, automation, and cloud operations.
• Guide the team through high-priority incidents, helping engineers troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and pivot quickly as operational needs change.
• Improve the reliability, availability, scalability, security, and operational readiness of cloud and Linux environments.
• Advance DevOps and SRE practices, including automation, Infrastructure as Code, observability, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Support the operational adoption of emerging GCP capabilities, including infrastructure supporting Google Gemini models and related AI-enabled solutions.
• Develop team capabilities through coaching, technical mentorship, knowledge sharing, and opportunities to expand cloud expertise.
• Partner with AWS, Azure, engineering, security, and other technology teams to support Vanguard’s broader multi-cloud strategy and operational standards.
• Evaluate operational trends, recurring incidents, and technology opportunities to improve resiliency and reduce manual effort.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight years related work experience.
• Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure, cloud operations, DevOps, SRE, Linux engineering, or a related technical discipline, including experience leading technical teams.
• Demonstrated Linux systems administration and troubleshooting experience in production environments.
• Experience managing or supporting workloads and infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or a comparable hyperscale cloud environment, with the ability to apply cloud infrastructure concepts to GCP.
• Experience leading production operations involving monitoring, alerts, incident management, infrastructure provisioning, availability, and service reliability.
• Ability to provide credible technical direction while coaching, developing, and managing infrastructure or cloud engineers.
• Experience with automation, scripting, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, or related DevOps practices.
• Experience collaborating across distributed teams and operating effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Experience supporting infrastructure operations at global or large-enterprise scale, preferred.
• Experience with multi-cloud environments, including AWS or Microsoft Azure, preferred.
• Experience supporting AI/ML cloud platforms or services such as Google Gemini, preferred.
• Financial services industry experience, preferred.

Special Factors

The team operates within a 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. operational coverage model; this role is expected to provide leadership during its assigned coverage and respond effectively when production incidents occur.

The team is geographically distributed across multiple U.S. locations, Australia, and India.
