Job summary

Canonical is hiring a Software Engineer to work on Linux, cloud infrastructure, pipelines and automation, and open source software. You will work with AWS, Azure and other cloud partners to enhance Ubuntu in the clouds, build image delivery pipelines, and automate delivery across workloads.

You will primarily code in Python on Linux, using Jenkins and shell, and contribute to cloud-related features while collaborating with a global, distributed team. Remote-first with travel 2–4 weeks per year.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similar degree.
Practical experience with public clouds.
Experience with at least three of: containers, devops automation, open source, APIs, Linux administration, Python packaging, cloud apps.
At least experience in Python software development on Linux.

Responsibilities

Build automated, highly reliable image delivery, testing and publication pipelines.
Design, build and integrate new features into Ubuntu for public clouds.
Collaborate with a distributed team.
Write high quality code to create new features.
Design and architect complex systems and cloud integrations.
Debug issues and deliver high quality fixes.
Review code and participate in design discussions.
Work from home with global travel 2 to 4 weeks per year.
Engage with Canonical teams, open source community and partners.
