Job summary

The University of Notre Dame is seeking a FinOps Analyst to lead cloud cost management and financial planning within the IT Financial Operations team. You will translate usage and pricing data into actionable insights to balance performance, innovation, and cost.

In this role you will partner with Cloud Storage and AI Enablement, develop forecasting models, and contribute to governance processes for responsible technology consumption. This is a full-time, hybrid position in Notre Dame, IN.

Qualifications

• At least three years of professional experience.
• Ability to work in the United States, now or in the future, without visa sponsorship.
• Familiarity with financial modeling, data analysis, forecasting, and cost reporting.
• Ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with technical teams, service owners, and leadership.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical and financial concepts clearly.
• Solution-oriented mindset focused on practical, data-backed recommendations.
• Aptitude to develop technical fluency regarding cloud environments, artificial intelligence platforms, and pricing models.

Responsibilities

• Cloud and AI Cost Management: analyze cost and usage data to identify drivers and patterns.
• Partner with technical teams to estimate future demand and drive cost-efficient resource utilization.
• Support chargeback models and governance for responsible cloud spend.
• Collaborate with service owners to support usage-based forecasting for cloud/AI platforms.
• Review vendor billing and usage data to validate charges and budget performance.
• Support cost scenario modeling.
