Job summary

Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, seeks an Engineering Manager for the BootStack team. You will lead a distributed engineering group responsible for day-to-day managed services, customer service management, and ongoing product improvements in a global, remote setup.

The role emphasizes strong Linux/OpenStack expertise, testing discipline, and collaboration across product engineering and operations. Expect travel to team and company events as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technology field or equivalent.
• Experience delivering software or managing operations teams.
• Proven OpenStack experience and strong testing practices.
• Linux system administration skills, Ubuntu/Debian a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with Agile methods and distributed teams.
• Familiarity with cloud topologies and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Manage a growing engineering team to optimize quality and velocity of development and operations.
• Identify and measure team health indicators.
• Implement disciplined engineering and operations processes.
• Represent the BootStack team with stakeholders, customers, and external teams.
• Ensure team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables.
• Meet SLAs for global customer deployments.
• Deliver quality managed services in a timely manner.
