Job summary

SMX seeks a Cloud Engineer for on-site work in Chantilly, VA; Herndon, VA or Aurora, CO. You will design and deploy cloud-agnostic architectures to support national defense programs in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The candidate should have 4+ years in cloud apps deployment, hands-on IaC, CI/CD, and containers (Docker/OpenShift/Kubernetes), plus a TS/SCI CI Poly and Security+ certification.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI CI Polygraph clearance required.
• On-site support Monday - Friday in Chantilly, VA, Herndon, VA or Aurora, CO.
• Security+ (or equivalent) certification.
• 4+ years in building, deployment, release automation, or orchestration for cloud apps.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Hands-on with IaC, automated configurations, large-scale deployments, and CI/CD.
• Containerization with Docker, OpenShift, or Kubernetes.
• Certifications such as Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA‑Security, or GSEC are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and integration of cloud-agnostic architectures to meet objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance.
• Assess systems, troubleshoot, and propose enhancements.
• Prepare technical diagrams, docs, and reports for stakeholders.
• Guide architecture implementation to ensure compliance.
• Scale delivery of modern systems engineering practices across IT and networking.
