Job summary

Vanguard in Malvern, PA is seeking a Go-focused engineer to maintain language availability on Windows, Mac, Linux, and CodER, and to sustain developer tooling for Go (VSCode extensions, Vanguard Base Go Docker image, Go GitHub workflows, Coder dotfiles).

You will publish newsletters about Go versions and tooling, document the Go language inside Vanguard, monitor Go-based apps for security and deprecated components, enforce best practices, and advise GIFS teams adopting Go for future projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years related work experience.
• Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining language availability within Vanguard on the following platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, Coder, Docker.
• Maintaining developer tooling necessary to code with Go: VSCode Extension + critical packages, Vanguard Base Go Docker Image, Go GitHub Workflow, Go GitHub Workflow Library, Coder Dotfiles, Monorepo Tooling.
• Creating and maintaining documentation on the Go Language in Vanguard.
• Publishing newsletters on the availability of Go language versions and tooling in Vanguard, deprecations, notices, etc.
• Monitoring applications within Vanguard utilizing Go tooling to address concerns: Security vulnerabilities, Bad practices, Deprecated components.
• Encouraging and enforcing best practices in Go via centralized library availability, linters, etc.
• Consultations for development teams within GIFS looking to adopt Go for their next projects.
