Job summary

Vanguard in Dallas/HQ area is seeking a Manager, Platform Engineering to lead platform development, maintenance and support across enterprise systems. You will hire and guide technical teams, resolve complex issues, and drive infrastructure projects while maintaining high service levels.

The role collaborates with stakeholders to deploy new technologies, develop standards, and continuously improve delivery across platforms. Hybrid work model with strong leadership focus is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years related work experience.
• Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead platform development across enterprise systems and ensure ongoing maintenance and support.
• Hire, evaluate, and supervise crew; set performance standards and compensation according to HR policies.
• Resolve the most complex platform issues and manage technical staff across platforms and systems.
• Develop and implement changes to department policies and SOPs to meet changing business needs and drive continuous improvement.
• Deliver hardware and software maintenance and ensure critical technology is maintained; collaborate to set technical standards and adopt new technologies.
• Understand client business functions to determine appropriate technical tools addressing needs; participate in special projects.

Job description

The Manager, Platform Engineering, is responsible for leading platform development, maintenance, and support across enterprise systems. This role involves managing technical teams, resolving complex platform issues, implementing infrastructure projects and developing technical standards. The individual collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure the effective deployment of new technologies and maintains high service levels through continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
• Manages the resolution of the most complex platform issues elevated from staff and clients.
• Manages technical support staff who implement, monitor, troubleshoot, and install platforms across all systems. Plans, develops, and executes short range goals and strategies to meet department, divisional, and corporate objectives.
• Develops and implements changes to department policies and standard operating procedures to meet changing business needs. Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement. Leads quality initiatives to improve the delivery of service levels.
• Responsible for delivering hardware and software maintenance and ensuring maintenance of critical technology is completed. Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and maintain standards for platforms. Implements new technologies for enterprise-wide infrastructure projects.
• Develops technical standards to serve Vanguard technical needs. Manages the ongoing performance of IT vendor products and services
• Learns and understands client area business functions and requirements. Determines the appropriate technical tool to address the client's business needs.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
