Job summary

INflow Federal seeks a senior Cloud Engineer to build secure, automated, and highly available cloud infrastructure for DoD customers. You will automate deployments, optimize performance, implement authentication integrations, strengthen monitoring, and support cloud modernization in an agile team.

You will work on full-stack web apps, containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab/Jenkins. DoD 8570 IAT II and AWS expertise are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements (Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA).
• Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services.
• Experience automating tasks with scripting languages (Bash/PowerShell/Perl).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• DevOps practices with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus).
• Extensive TypeScript or JavaScript background.
• Angular frontend framework; UI/UX design.
• Microservice-based backend architecture; REST APIs integration.
• Experience with full-stack applications in a PaaS environment.
• Containerization with Docker; orchestration with Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain security requirements for operation of systems with the A&A Team.
• Improve infrastructure, autoscaling, new services, cost optimization, authentication, and search.
• Produce detailed documentation.
• Maintain AWS-based systems (EC2, S3, Load Balancer, RDS).
• Automate deployments and optimize service delivery.
• Deliver full-stack application to production; resolve issues.
• Engage in requirements gathering with customers.
• Design and implement features with minimal oversight.
• Refactor legacy code for reliability and maintainability.
• Mentor junior developers and perform unit tests with CI practices.
• Write, read, and test JavaScript/TypeScript code.
• Develop apps backed by relational DB (Postgres).
• Provide technical support and participate in scrums.

As a Cloud Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our mission to deliver secure, automated, and highly available cloud infrastructure for our DoD customers. Working within a highly functional agile development team, you'll automate service deployments, optimize system performance, integrate with enterprise authentication services, strengthen system monitoring, and uphold established security protocols – driving our commitment to cloud modernization and cyber resilience.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the A&A Team to maintain security requirements for operation of systems
• Maintain and improve existing infrastructure (build out autoscaling, support new services, optimize for cost efficiencies, authentication, search, etc.)
• Produce detailed documentation
• Maintain systems in an AWS environment using EC2, S3, Load Balancer, and RDS
• Automate and optimize service deployments
• Deliver a full-stack web application to production; identify and resolve operational issues
• Actively participate in the technical requirements‑gathering process (i.e., meetings with customers)
• Execute design and implementation of application features independently, with minimal oversight
• Refactor legacy application code for improved reliability and maintainability
• Mentor junior developers
• Write and read unit tests; apply code‑quality analysis concepts
• Write and debug JavaScript, TypeScript, or a closely related language
• Develop applications backed by a relational database; apply relational database design concepts
• Provide technical support to customers and participate in scrums and other agile team meetings

Required Skills:

• 8+ years of IT experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
• Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements, including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA
• Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services
• Experience automating tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Perl
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology
• Familiarity with DevOps development processes and Continuous Integration tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus
• Extensive TypeScript or JavaScript background
• Angular frontend framework; UI/UX design
• Microservice‑based backend architecture; integrating with COTS/FOSS software REST APIs
• Experience supporting a full‑stack application in a PaaS environment
• CI/CD pipeline implementation, ideally with GitLab
• Creating and deploying containerized applications, ideally with Docker
• Designing and implementing container orchestration with Kubernetes

Desired Skills:

• Strong understanding of cloud APIs and interaction with the AWS CLI
• Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, or Java)
• Experience with the Go programming language
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Markdown, and portal development
• Database experience with a Postgres backend
• Strong communication skills
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification

Certification Requirements

Most of our contracts require DoD 8140 (formerly 8570) compliance. We built 8140.study - our certification training platform - to help. This helps you study for certifications such as the CompTIA Security+.
