Job summary

University of Nebraska seeks an IT professional to ensure continuous availability of cloud services, designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure and related management solutions. You will monitor performance, capacity, and uptime to meet service level agreements in a 24x7 operation and troubleshoot complex issues with the team and third parties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT related field.
  • 3 years experience with the configuration, design, installation, and maintenance of computer hardware/networks.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet networking.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

  • Ensure continuous availability of cloud services, including design, implementation, and management of cloud infrastructure.
  • Monitor, analyze, and ensure performance, capacity, and uptime meeting SLAs within a 24x7 operation.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems with team members and third parties.
  • Interact with networking, systems, and telecom professionals and end-users to deliver services.
  • Advocate cloud adoption and promote cloud-first strategies across the organization.

Job description

Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring continuous availability of the University of Nebraska cloud services. Including the design, implementation, and management of cloud-based infrastructure and associated management solutions. Monitor, analyze, and ensure solution performance, capacity, and uptime meet university service level agreements within a 24x7 operation. Troubleshoot complex problems, individually, with other members of the team, and with third-parties. Requires regular interaction with other networking, systems, and telecom professionals in the design and delivery of services; and with end-users to provide direct support. Serve as evangelists to for cloud adoption and encourage adoption of cloud-first strategies broadly across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree inIT related field

3 years experience with the configuration, design, installation, and maintenance of computer hardware/networks

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting cloud services within Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure

Experience with IT process automation, DevOps, and 'Infrastructure as Code' concepts

This position is designated as an on-site role and is not eligible for an alternative worksite arrangement at the time of hire. Following successful completion of the initial probationary period and demonstration of satisfactory performance, employees in this position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement, subject to departmental needs and supervisory approval. Under the University of Nebraska Information Technology Services (NU ITS) hybrid work guidelines, eligible employees may work remotely up to two days per week and are required to work on-site a minimum of three days per week at on of the University of Nebraska campuses in Lincoln, Omaha or Kearney.
