Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and maintain a large-scale cloud infrastructure platform. You will design and implement distributed systems, write resilient microservices, and automate infrastructure using IaC and CI/CD pipelines.

You will work across data centers and public clouds, with a focus on reliability, security, and performance, while collaborating in a diverse, inclusive engineering culture.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend software development experience (Python) in cloud architecture.
• Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting knowledge.
• Proven Python proficiency with OOP, design patterns, data structures, and concurrency.
• Experience with public cloud engineering on GCP, AWS, and/or Azure.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools for automating DNS and infrastructure management.
• Experience configuring, deploying, managing, and maintaining large cloud-hosted systems.
• Experience with container/orchestration systems like Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Spinnaker, Git, etc.
• Solid understanding of DNS, load balancing, SSL, TCP/IP, SQL, HTTP, networking basics.
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins, Travis CI, etc.
• Involvement in large infrastructure projects and on-call rotations.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and inclusive collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, and validation platforms for public cloud platforms.
• Design, develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems across data centers.
• Write and maintain microservices using containerization technologies.
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code and automation pipelines.
• Address complex technical issues to improve availability and performance.
• Balance live-site management, feature delivery, and tech debt retirement.
• Participate in on-call rotations to keep services operational.
