Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a backend software engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale distributed systems in our Public Cloud engineering teams. You will develop infrastructure automation, write microservices, and ensure high availability across data centers.

You will work with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), contributing to open source and continuous delivery practices while collaborating with global teams in a fast-paced, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of backend software development experience (Python) with Cloud Architecture.
• Hands-on Linux systems administration and troubleshooting, servers, and cloud architecture.
• Proven Python experience; strong OOP, design patterns, data structures & concurrency.
• Public cloud experience on AWS/Azure/GCP; cloud provisioning & migrations at scale.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and container orchestration.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools and monitoring platforms.
• Experience with Agile development and Test Driven Development.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a diverse environment.
• Configuration management with open-source tools (Puppet/Ansible/Chef/Salt).
• Experience maintaining monitoring platforms like Grafana.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms on public cloud platforms.
• Design, develop, and operate resilient distributed systems across data centers.
• Write and maintain microservices with containerization frameworks (Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos).
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tooling.
• Troubleshoot complex issues to improve availability, resilience, and performance.
• Balance live-site management, feature delivery, and technical debt retirement.
• Participate in on-call rotations to keep services operational.
