Job summary

Ares Management is seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer to design, implement, automate, and support enterprise database platforms within our Infrastructure Engineering team.

You will work with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, and cloud-native services, develop automation for provisioning and patching, and build CI/CD pipelines to modernize the data platform.

Collaborate with software teams and Security Operations to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years managing enterprise database platforms.
• Strong experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and/or MySQL; Azure variants.
• Proven automation skills using Python, PowerShell, REST APIs.
• DevOps, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins; IaC practices.
• Cloud database solutions in Microsoft Azure and hybrid environments.
• Security, encryption, and compliance fundamentals in databases.
• Experience with monitoring, performance tuning, and data architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and support enterprise database platforms.
• Design highly available architectures with clustering, replication, backup, and DR.
• Develop automation for provisioning, configuration, schema deployments, and health monitoring.
• Drive modernization initiatives via IaC and DevOps practices.
• Develop APIs and tools to automate database operations.
• Implement and support cloud database services across Azure and hybrid clouds.
• Performance tuning, query optimization, index management, and capacity planning.
• Monitor health, capacity, availability, and security using enterprise platforms.
• Collaborate with software teams to establish standards and pipelines.
• Build CI/CD integration for database changes and platform automation workflows.
