Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a Data Protection Engineer to lead the implementation, maintenance, and operational support of our data protection infrastructure. The role focuses on DLP, DSPM, encryption, and policy tuning across on‑prem and cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure).

You will collaborate with senior engineers, troubleshoot incidents, and contribute to engineering standards while staying current with HIPAA, NIST, and ISO controls. This is a mission‑critical security role.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience with Data Loss Prevention.
• 5 years of experience with Information Security and Systems Analysis.
• 3 years of experience with at least two modern programming languages (Python, PowerShell).
• 3 years of experience with cloud service providers: GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Computer Science or related field.
• Master's degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Computer Science or related field.
• Advanced cloud certification in GCP, AWS or Azure (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect/Security Engineer).
• Travel: ~; Office-Based or Remote Position.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain components of the data protection infrastructure across platforms and vendors, including DLP and DSPM.
• Collaborate on design and implementation of data protection solutions in on-prem and cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Configure and maintain data protection policies, tuning detection, and managing exception lists.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data protection incidents with root-cause analysis.
• Assist with testing, implementation, and documentation on data protection projects.
• Use PowerShell and Python to automate deployment and maintenance of protection software.
• Collaborate with team members to expand knowledge and stay current with data protection technologies.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, NIST, PCI, ISO, and related guidelines.
