Job summary

Softeq is seeking a senior Data Platform Architect to lead cloud data platform design and governance. You will define architecture for Databricks, Unity Catalog, and Azure components, shaping the data flow from ingest to serving layers across multiple data domains.

In this role you will champion best practices for IaC (Bicep), security, cost controls, and scalable data pipelines, partnering with client teams to deliver robust, future-ready platforms.

Qualifications

• Databricks at platform level including metastores and catalogs.
• Unity Catalog end to end with external tables and data sharing.
• Platform compute and consumption model including clusters and warehouses.
• Platform network isolation with private endpoints and no public access.
• Medallion architecture and semantic layer design for apps and reporting.
• Ingestion approaches: incremental file ingestion, streaming and declarative pipelines.
• Delivery and environment promotion with source control and automated tests.
• Azure design depth: App Service, Front Door, Key Vault, App Insights.
• Infrastructure as code, preferably Bicep.
• External identity design with MFA and conditional access.
• Ability to produce architecture reviews and decision arguments.

Responsibilities

• Reviews cloud environments, subscriptions, and cost controls.
• Proposes platform path and phased hybrid approaches with risks and costs.
• Defines workspace catalog structure and permission models.
• Designs target data architecture across raw, cleaned, curated, and serving layers.
• Sets naming, ownership, lineage conventions and access rules.
• Defines security and external consumption scope for data assets.
• Models platform network including private access and isolation.
• Develops compute and cost models with governance policies.
• Architects production landing zone for external apps and tenants.
• Owns application and integration architecture including observability.
