Qualifications

• Ability to own engagements end-to-end and drive outcomes.

About the Role

Formula5 clients rely on their Azure platforms to run workloads that can’t afford to fail. As a Platform Consultant, you’ll help them get those foundations right – architecting landing zones, automating infrastructure, and modernizing estates that have outgrown how they were first built. The role balances hands-on engineering with advisory work: you’ll implement infrastructure directly while guiding client leadership through the technical decisions that shape it. You own engagements end-to-end, and you’re measured on outcomes that hold up long after the project closes.

What You’ll Do

• Lead platform architecture and advisory engagements across client environments, assessing current state, identifying gaps, and designing solutions that are technically sound and aligned with business goals.
• Design and implement solutions across the Azure ecosystem, including landing zones, networking, compute, integration, and identity with Microsoft Entra ID, translating platform capabilities into real client outcomes.
• Build and automate infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD practices (Bicep, Azure DevOps, Terraform, GitHub Actions), making environments repeatable, governed, and observable.
• Modernize legacy estates – migrating and re-platforming workloads, and replacing manual, error-prone processes with automated, repeatable delivery.
• Establish platform governance, cost management, reliability, and operational practices that hold up under regulatory scrutiny.
• Collaborate with client engineering, data, architecture, and identity teams to drive implementation, resolve blockers, and ensure platforms are built to last, not just to demo.
• Develop high-quality deliverables, including assessments, roadmaps, architecture documents, and executive briefings, that set the standard for what good looks like.
• Contribute to practice development by refining methodologies, building reusable assets, and helping less experienced consultants grow.

What We’re Looking For

• 4+ years of experience in cloud/platform engineering, architecture, or consulting, with meaningful exposure to client-facing or advisory work
• Hands-on experience with Azure across compute, networking, and identity
• Strong Infrastructure-as-Code and automation skills (Bicep, Terraform) and CI/CD pipeline experience
• The versatility to work across whatever technologies an engagement needs, paired with a strong sense of ownership – you push topics forward and close them out rather than letting them drift
• Awareness of governance, cost, and compliance considerations in regulated industries (HIPAA, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, DORA, or similar)
• Strong communicator, able to translate technical trade-offs into business language from the engineering team to the boardroom
• Relevant certifications are a plus: AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, or equivalent
• Experience across Mid / Senior / Principal levels; we will calibrate the role to your actual depth and scope of expertise
