Data & AI Consultant (Mid/Senior/Principal)
About Us
Formula5 is a Microsoft, Databricks, and Anthropic partner that solves the hardest data and technology challenges in regulated industries – healthcare, life sciences, financial services, and energy. We don’t chase commoditized work. We hire the best people, give them real ownership, and let them do what they’re great at.
About the Role
As a Data & AI Consultant at Formula5, you will help clients turn raw data into a strategic asset and AI ambition into working solutions. You will work across the full data and AI stack, from designing scalable data platforms to building and deploying models that solve real business problems in regulated environments. This is not a role for people who hand off work and move on. You will own engagements end-to-end, stay close to the problem, and deliver solutions that are built to last.
In today’s fast-changing IT landscape, we heavily rely on AI. We use Anthropic, OpenAI, and custom model providers like Azure AI Foundry.
We recognize that core competence today and in the coming years is the ability to meta-problem-synthesize, a mental ability to allow for ‘black box’ coding with parallel strong input and output controls you can design that guarantees solution quality. And maybe most importantly, we expect excellent critical thinking skills. Not being a lazy, passive-aggressive critic in meetings – but the ability to question LLM outputs, look for alternative ways, and explore as an effect.
We use skills, plugins, and MCP on a daily basis. You would be expected to leverage your effectiveness using those but also contribute, co-develop, and author new ones!
What You’ll Do – depending on your position
- Design and implement modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Anthropic platform, and Azure Data Services, building architectures that are scalable, governed, and fit for regulated industries.
- Develop end-to-end data pipelines and transformation logic, from ingestion through to consumption layers, ensuring data quality, lineage, and reliability across the stack.
- Build and deploy AI and machine learning solutions, leveraging the Anthropic platform, Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning, and open-source frameworks to address specific client use cases, from predictive analytics to generative AI applications.
- Design, build, and deploy Agentic Apps as a Fabric App (Rayfin tech stack), tailored to business workloads, transforming business processes, dramatically improving business functions efficiency.
- Translate business requirements into data and AI architectures, working closely with client stakeholders to ensure solutions are technically sound and aligned to real operational needs.
- Assess client data maturity and help them define a roadmap for data platform modernization, including migrations from legacy environments to Lakehouse or fabric-based architectures.
- Implement data governance and compliance controls appropriate to regulated industries, including data classification, access management, lineage tracking, and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with client data engineering, analytics, and business teams throughout delivery, removing blockers and ensuring adoption of the solutions you build.
- Develop high-quality deliverables, including architecture designs, technical documentation, and executive summaries, that reflect the depth of the work and give clients lasting value beyond the engagement.
- Contribute to practice development by refining reusable accelerators, documenting patterns, and helping grow the capabilities of the broader team.
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or AI/ML, with grounding in IT fundamentals and meaningful exposure to client-facing or consulting work
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure Data Services (Synapse, Data Factory, ADLS), delivery of Anthropic Platform, Azure AI Foundry-based agentic solutions. Experienced with solution delivery based on CLI tools like Claude Code, Codex etc.
- Solid understanding of data platform patterns, including Lakehouse architecture, medallion architecture, and modern ELT approaches
- Experience with AI and machine learning, whether building models, orchestrating AI workflows, or integrating large language models into data products
- Familiarity with data governance and compliance requirements relevant to regulated industries (HIPAA, GDPR, DORA, or similar)
- Strong communicator, comfortable presenting technical concepts to both engineering teams and business stakeholders
- Relevant certifications are a plus: DP-600, DP-203, Databricks Certified Associate/Professional, or equivalent
- Experience across Mid / Senior / Principal levels; we will calibrate the role to your actual depth and scope of expertise
