Job summary

Mesirow is seeking a Cloud and Automation Engineer to join our hybrid cloud team in Chicago. You will design, build, and operate infrastructure across Azure and on‑premises environments, applying consistent engineering principles regardless of platform.

You’ll automate provisioning with IaC, partner with cross‑functional squads to translate requirements into resilient, secure infrastructure, and promote immutable patterns.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of infrastructure automation experience in cloud and on-prem environments.
• Experience with Terraform and Ansible in Azure.
• Ability to work across cross-functional squads and document designs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate infrastructure across Azure and on-premises environments.
• Automate provisioning and configuration using IaC.
• Collaborate with cross-functional squads to translate requirements into infrastructure designs.
• Co-design systems with developers, favoring immutable infrastructure patterns.
• Contribute to hybrid cloud strategy and workload placement decisions.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across cloud, storage, networking, identity.
• Document standards and runbooks for team support.
• Embed SRE principles and reliability practices.
• Identify opportunities to insource work and reduce external dependencies.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Stay current with evolving cloud, virtualization, and automation practices.
