Job summary

Motion Industries in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Cloud Engineer focused on API Management. You will design, implement, and maintain robust API ecosystems using Apigee on Google Cloud, bridging backend services with consumer apps.

Responsibilities include API proxy design, marketplace management, CI/CD automation, security, and documentation. You will collaborate with application teams, define OpenAPI specs, and contribute to a scalable, secure API program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3–5 years of cloud engineering with API gateway/management.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform and Apigee.
• Experience with API Marketplace/Developer Portal.
• Proficiency with IaC tools such as Crossplane, Terraform, or Pulumi.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in microservices.

Responsibilities

• API Design & Implementation: Design and configure API proxies, security policies, and traffic management using Apigee.
• Marketplace Management: Manage API Marketplace platforms for API discovery and documentation.
• Automation & CI/CD: Automate API deployment pipelines with Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Security & Compliance: Maintain API security with threat protection, rate limiting, and encryption (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT).
• Operational Excellence: Monitor performance, latency, and errors; implement proactive troubleshooting.
• Collaboration: Define API contracts (OpenAPI/Swagger) with application teams.
• Technical Documentation: Create API specifications and developer portal content.
