Job summary

Motion Industries is seeking a Cloud Engineer (API Management) in Birmingham, AL to design, implement, and maintain robust API ecosystems using Apigee on Google Cloud. You will bridge backend services with consumer apps, ensure high availability, security, and scalable performance across the API lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in cloud engineering focused on API Gateways, with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Kubernetes experience, and a Bachelor’s in CS/IT or related field.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
• Core Experience: 3 - 5 years in Cloud Engineering with API Gateway/Management focus.
• GCP & Apigee: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform and Apigee.
• Lifecycle: Experience with API Marketplace, Developer Portal, or similar tools.
• IaC: Proficiency with Terraform, Crossplane, or Pulumi.
• Modern Architecture: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Design and configure API proxies, security policies, and traffic rules using Apigee.
• Manage API Marketplace platforms for API discovery, docs, and self-service.
• Automate API deployment pipelines (CI/CD) using Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Maintain API security posture with threat protection, rate limiting, and TLS.
• Monitor performance, latency, and errors; enable proactive alerting and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with application teams on API contracts and architecture best practices.
• Develop and maintain API specifications and developer portal content.
