Job summary

Taproot Executive Search is assisting a leading alternative investment manager in New York with a hybrid work setup (4 days in office). This Associate role sits on the Middle Market CLO team and offers exposure to portfolio managers, operations, trustees, and other counterparties.

You will support portfolio compliance, hypothetical trade analysis, portfolio optimization, and quarterly waterfall calculations, gaining hands-on insight into CLO mechanics and portfolio returns.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in CLO portfolio analytics or related investment operations.
• Working knowledge of CLO structures, compliance tests, and cash flow waterfalls.
• Middle Market CLO or direct lending experience preferred.
• Experience supporting hypothetical trade analysis and evaluating portfolio constraints.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Run, monitor, and validate daily portfolio compliance testing and reconcile results with monthly trustee testing.
• Analyze hypothetical trades and their impact on compliance test levels, portfolio returns, and investment capacity.
• Support portfolio optimization analysis using internal tools and third-party systems.
• Work with Middle Market CLO portfolio management and operations teams on daily tasks and projects.
• Assist with trade allocations and evaluate their impact across portfolios.
• Assist in preparing and reviewing quarterly CLO waterfall calculations.
• Coordinate with trustees and counterparties to investigate data/reporting discrepancies.
• Respond to ad hoc requests for information and analysis on existing holdings.
• Contribute to improvements in analytical tools, reporting, and portfolio monitoring processes.
