Job Summary

Provides clinical and therapeutic services to individuals and groups in support of behavioral health, recovery, and treatment goals. Conducts assessments, develops and implements individualized treatment plans, delivers evidence-informed interventions, maintains required clinical documentation, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate effective client care. Participates in clinical consultation, crisis response, quality improvement, and program initiatives while promoting recovery-oriented, person-centered, and trauma-informed practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides therapeutic and clinical services to individuals and groups in accordance with professional standards, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts clinical assessments and develops, implements, monitors, and updates individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals.
  • Applies appropriate therapeutic interventions, evidence-informed practices, and recovery-oriented approaches to support client progress.
  • Manages assigned caseloads and coordinates services based on individual clinical needs, level of care, and program requirements.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in electronic health records in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and reimbursement requirements.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, clients, families, community partners, and other service providers to support continuity and coordination of care.
  • Participates in clinical supervision or consultation, team meetings, case reviews, and other activities supporting effective clinical practice.
  • Provides crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and appropriate referrals or coordination as needed.
  • Promotes trauma-informed, person-centered, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented approaches to service delivery.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and supports the development and implementation of clinical or program initiatives.
  • Maintains professional competencies and complies with applicable ethical, licensing, confidentiality, and clinical practice requirements.
  • May provide consultation, guidance, training, or clinical support to colleagues and other staff as appropriate to qualifications and assigned responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications— Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field
  • License-eligible for LCSW, LPC, or equivalent
  • 1–3 years of experience in behavioral health or clinical services
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic documentation systems
  • OR?an equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that demonstrates the capacity to perform the essential functions of the position, as permitted by applicable regulatory standards.
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with agency policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing therapy or clinical services in behavioral health settings
  • Familiarity with Medicaid, DBHDS, and local service coordination protocols
  • Training in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and crisis response
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of behavioral health systems, clinical interventions, and recovery principles
  • Skill in conducting assessments and delivering therapeutic services
  • Skill in documentation and compliance with clinical standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and service teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organized records
  • Ability to learn and retain processes through instruction and apply them independently
  • Ability to identify potential problems or detect when something may be likely to go wrong
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may provide informal guidance or training to other staff but does not function in a formal supervisory capacity.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role, generally performs work under the following conditions:

  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. While this role may involve desk-based tasks, employees must be able to ambulate independently, operate a motor vehicle, and transition between office and field environments. Field-based responsibilities may include walking short distances, climbing stairs, and carrying essential work items such as a laptop.
  • Close concentration, visual attention and need for manual dexterity required.
  • Normal working conditions. Work is typically performed in a standard behavioral health environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards.
  • Conditions may fluctuate based on client acuity and behavioral presentations. Staff may be required to implement behavior management techniques and participate in crisis intervention procedures. Behavioral interventions are infrequent, typically occurring
