Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work with active Massachusetts licensure (LCSW or LICSW) and professional liability insurance.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing counseling or crisis intervention services; college mental health experience preferred.
  • Strong skills in psychological assessment, individual/group psychotherapy, and crisis stabilization; experience with substance use or eating disorders valued.

Responsibilities

  • Culturally relevant clinical care and daily drop-in support for students in a diverse performing arts community.
  • Maintain an active clinical caseload using a short-term therapy model, with up to 65% of time in direct clinical care.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and refer students to community providers as needed.
  • Provide immediate crisis stabilization during campus emergencies and participate in clinical supervision and leadership consultations.
  • Act as a clinical consultant for post-discharge planning and coordinate with faculty, staff, and student leadership.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the EMR and participate in ongoing administrative duties.

Job Description: The Office of Counseling & Survivor Advocacy Services is seeking a compassionate, culturally grounded Clinician/Multicultural Specialist. Reporting to the Director, this role delivers essential clinical care, crisis intervention, and community outreach to a diverse student body of performing artists. You will focus specifically on inclusion, empowerment, and strength‑based mental health interventions for historically underserved and culturally stigmatized student populations.

Key Responsibilities
Multicultural & Clinical Care
  • Culturally Relevant Support: Staff daily drop‑in hours designed for students for whom counseling services have been historically and culturally stigmatized.
  • Caseload Management: Maintain an active clinical caseload using an intentional short‑term therapy model, with direct clinical care capped at 65% of total time per AUCCCD guidelines.
  • Assessment & Referrals: Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and refer students to community providers for psychiatric evaluations, specialized care, or long‑term treatment.
Crisis Response & Consultation
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate crisis stabilization as part of an emergency clinician rotation and respond effectively to campus mental health emergencies.
  • Post‑Discharge Planning: Act as a clinical consultant to leadership regarding student post‑discharge planning following hospitalizations.
  • Administrative Stewardship: Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical records system, participate in clinical supervision, and consult with faculty, staff, and student leaders.
What You’ll Bring
  • Education & Licensure: Master’s Degree in Social Work with active Massachusetts licensure (LCSW or LICSW). Must maintain professional liability insurance.
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience providing counseling or crisis intervention services, specifically focused on community‑based, culturally relevant mental health care. College mental health experience is preferred.
  • Clinical Competencies: Strong skills in psychological assessment, individual/group psychotherapy, and crisis stabilization. Experience treating substance use or eating disorders is highly valued.
  • Interpersonal Excellence: Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships across ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse student populations, paired with strong consultation and training presentation skills.

Hiring Ranges
  • Clinician: $60,000 to $87,000
  • Senior Clinician: $71,000 to $100,000
