Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Lab Services Coordinator for the Clinical Trials Processing Lab (CTPL) on first shift. You will prepare labels, label tubes, and process specimens for clinical trials in strict compliance with regulatory policies.

You will build sample libraries across multiple specimen types, manage inventory and data, and support audits and FDA inspections. A Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and 1 year of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Health related Sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience; 1 year of relevant experience required; 2–4 years preferred.
• Good working knowledge of laboratory principles, equipment and safety standards; must communicate effectively with clinical staff and collaborators.
• Experience processing tissue, blood, urine, and bone marrow samples; data collection and data entry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with all CTPL activities including preparing labels and labeling tubes for clinical trial specimen collection, processing, storage and shipping in compliance with regulations and policies.
• Constructs sample libraries of various sample types, including blood, bone marrow, plasma, serum, urine, saliva and paraffin embedded tissue.
• Manages data entry, inventory control and quality control of human biological specimens.
• Uses prescribed lab methods, instruments and automated equipment; maintains lab maintenance records.
• Prepares supplies for specimen collection.
• Receives, processes and distributes specimens including time-sensitive samples for PK, PD and other markers as well as safety labs.
• Manages sample and kit inventory via electronic database.
• Completes lab/test requisition forms and maintains samples records for audits.
• Communicates with outside reference labs regarding patient testing and resolves testing/collection issues.
• Interacts with clinical research protocols and hospital staff.
• Participates in data management, audits and FDA inspections, and continuous quality improvement.
• Ensures compliance with FDA and IRB regulations and internal SOPs.
• Maintains all trainings and certifications (GCP, IATA, EHS, sponsor requirements).
