Job summary

NYU is seeking an experienced Clinical Research Budget Analyst to support development, review, and negotiation of clinical trial budgets. This role serves as a primary contact for investigators and study teams, managing the budgeting process from protocol review through study activation.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in budget development and sponsor negotiations, with strong knowledge of research billing compliance, CRMS, and Epic integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare, or related field.
• 2+ years budgeting and sponsor negotiation experience.
• Ability to read and interpret protocols and translate requirements into budgets.
• Knowledge of pre- and post-award research or grant management.
• Experience with research billing compliance in clinical research or healthcare.
• Familiarity with NCDs/NCCDs, CMS policies, and routine cost coverage.

Responsibilities

• Review protocols to assess procedures, personnel, costs, and administrative requirements.
• Develop internal budgets within the CRMS.
• Calculate costs, time/effort, inflation, margins, and expenses for funding.
• Perform financial analysis to determine study costs and break-even points.
• Negotiate budgets with sponsors and ensure alignment with agreements.
• Capture all costs, stipends, travel, and reimbursable items in CRMS.
• Review amendments and renegotiate budgets as needed.
• Collaborate with investigators, finance teams, and stakeholders through budgeting.
