Job summary

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or healthcare related field is required.
• Five or more years experience developing and negotiating budgets.
• Prior experience in clinical research and/or in research billing compliance is required.
• Understanding of research billing compliance including NCCDs for coverage of routine costs and the CMS Clinical Research Policy is required.
• Strong analytical, mathematical and accounting skills to produce accurate data and recommendations.
• Advanced knowledge and expertise in Excel.

Responsibilities

• Using internal billing grids and prospective reimbursement analysis, develops a complete internal budget ensuring all research-related fees are accounted for.
• Apply inflation and margin rates; perform other duties as assigned.
• Review study amendments for budget/contract impact and initiate processes as necessary.
• Maintain transparency with study teams on budget status.
• Serve as primary liaison between department/investigator and central office on preaward budget processes; release study for activation when complete.
• Collaborate with Research Finance to load budget into PeopleSoft and create chart strings; enter finalized invoicing terms and visit descriptions in the management system.
• Collaborate with sponsored projects staff to ensure final negotiated budget and billing terms are included in the contract.
