Job summary

Trinity Health in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to operate instruments, prepare specimens, report results, and utilize the LIS. Basic wet chemistry skills and experience are important to support patient care.

Open in the Toxicology laboratory handling urine and blood; BS in Medical Technology required. MLS/MT certification preferred. U.S. work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge and some experience in wet chemistry techniques.
• MLS/MT degree and/or related medical laboratory education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Records and/or enters laboratory computer results of tests performed and advises supervisor of unusual results before release.
• Reports results of tests ordered stat and abnormal results in a timely manner according to procedures.
• Compares test results with previous patient results and notes unusual fluctuations.
• Performs quality control and calibration of laboratory equipment used in the tests.
• Notifies personnel of problems such as unacceptable specimens or equipment malfunctions.
• Prepares standards, reagents, and materials used in testing.
• Contacts nursing unit or client office regarding results and requests.
