Job summary

Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus seeks a Clinical Technician for the J6-6 Vascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit to support caregiving teams and enhance patient experience under RN supervision.

The role involves vital signs, patient assistance, charting, and maintaining a clean, healing environment with rotating shifts including days and nights. Nursing students and experienced caregivers are invited to apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross upon or within the new hire period.
• Nursing students must have BLS prior to hire.
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience.
• Additional education/training may substitute for some or all stated experience.
• Nursing students with a clinical rotation may substitute the rotation for the required experience.
• Military experience as Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Education

One year of recent, full-time patient care experience

The J6-6 Vascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit provides medical services for complications following endovascular abdominal aneurysm repairs, endovascular renal artery stenting, thrombolytic therapies and other procedures. A caregiver in this role works a day/night rotation from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period
• Nursing students required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
• Additional education/training may substitute for some/all the stated experience
• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $19.25

Maximum hourly: $25.95
