Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking a Clinical Technician for night shifts (6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) with rotating holidays and weekends. The role supports RN-led patient care, monitors vitals, assists with personal care, and ensures clean, safe patient rooms.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, BLS certification, and at least one year of recent full-time patient care experience. Nursing students may qualify with required BLS; military medical experience is considered.

Qualifications

• Nursing students must have BLS prior to hire, or equivalent.
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience.
• Military medical service experience considered for substitution.

As a Clinical Technician on our team, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. Your work plays a direct role in our mission to continuously provide patients with the best healthcare experience possible.
A caregiver in this role works nights from 6:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. with rotating holiday and weekend requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within new hire period
• Nursing students: required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
• Additional education/training may substitute for some/all the stated experience (i.e. mental health experience)
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $19.25
Maximum hourly: $25.95
