Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health in New Haven, CT seeks a Patient Care Assistant (CNA) to provide daily patient care under supervision, assisting with activities of daily living, measuring vitals, and supporting PFCC principles. Requires CNA certification or current nursing program enrollment and at least one year of related patient care experience; EKG familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; CNA certification or completion before orientation.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed one clinical nursing school rotation.
• One year patient care experience (EKG, Phlebotomy, Nurse Aide, Nurse Technician) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduits daily patient care activities including activities of daily living and comfort measures.
• Collects data: obtains weights, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure measurements.
• Performs non-sterile treatments, such as cold compresses.
• Performs specimen collection/procedures including phlebotomy as area requires.
• Uses effective interpersonal skills in all interactions and demonstrates respect.
• Maintains active involvement in all educational activities related to role and attends mandatory inservices.
• Performs other responsibilities as requested by the Patient care manager and stays flexible with time.
