Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill is seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant I to support patient care, transport patients and equipment, and set up patient rooms in the Cardiology unit.

Responsibilities include assisting clinicians, reviewing care documentation, performing clerical tasks, providing direct patient care, and maintaining supplies; a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English language.
• Basic computer skills; ability to develop skills if needed.
• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Critically reviews patient care documentation making note of significant changes in condition and reports to nurse/physician.
• Performs clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, review and revise orders, answer calls, transcribe orders, maintain records.
• Provides clinical support: clean area, troubleshoot equipment, transport patients and supplies, assist orientation of new staff.
• Provides direct personal care per care plan: bathing, dressing, feeding, assisting ambulation, measure vital signs.
• Reinforces patient education and distributes educational materials.
