Job summary

UNC Health's Cardiovascular Stepdown unit (6HV) seeks a Nursing Assistant I to support professional caregivers in patient care delivery, transport, and unit clerical duties. The role includes direct patient care, vital signs, and basic skills, with an emphasis on documentation and patient education.

The position is full-time at Rex 6 HV/CV Stepdown in Raleigh, with a 36-hour work week and an onsite schedule. Eligible for the Nursing Support Incentive Program and related benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; higher-level degree may satisfy.
• Nursing Assistant I license by NC DHHS; BLS certification.
• Prior experience not required.
• Must be fluent in English; capable of developing computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and clinicians with examinations and procedures, and procures equipment and supplies.
• Reviews patient care documentation, reports significant changes to RN or physician.
• Performs clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, research information, review and revise orders, answer calls, transcribe orders, maintain records.
• Provides clinical support: cleaning workspace, troubleshoot equipment, transport patients/supplies, assist in orientation of new staff.
• Provides direct personal care per plan of care: bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation, measures vital signs, etc.
• Reinforces patient teaching and distributes education materials.
