Job summary

UNC Health Care System's Cardiac Medicine Stepdown Unit seeks a Nursing Assistant I to assist in patient care, transport duties, and clerical support. You will help with admissions, treatments, transfers, and discharges on a 36-hour week schedule, onsite in Chapel Hill.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians and nurses, documenting care, providing personal care, and reinforcing patient education to support Carolina Care. BLS and NC CNA eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• Listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the NC DHHS.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Prior experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the professional caregiver in delivering patient care and handles transporting patients/equipment.
• Sets up and maintains patient rooms; performs clerical and data entry tasks for unit operations.
• Provides direct personal care per plan of care activities and records vital signs as required.
• Reinforces patient teaching and distributes education materials to patients and families.
