Department Overview

Our neonatal program is the largest in the Midwest. We provide the full scope of care for infants needing intensive care. At the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Children’s Minnesota St. Paul Campus, our inter-disciplinary team of over 500 professionals is dedicated to the care of babies born prematurely, those with birth defects, genetic disorders, medical disorders, and any baby needing surgery. We care for babies requiring complex care, including hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, and maintenance of systemic perfusion and management of organ failure. We are a part of the Mother Baby Center in St. Paul at United Hospital which includes high-risk delivery services. The Children’s St. Paul NICU is a 62-bed unit providing level 2 and level 3 neonatal care, which allows for continuity of care from admission to discharge. Our team balances a highly technical skill set with a family-centered approach. We rely on teamwork, with open and respectful communication, and promote an environment that encourages learning and professional growth. Position Summary

Provides safe patient care as delegated by licensed nursing staff and maintains equipment and supplies per unit standard. Completed a nursing assistant course or equivalent experience, or completed a nursing or health care related clinical practicum course. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

• One year of previous Nursing Assistant experience or equivalent experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Proficient communication, critical thinking, and prioritization skills required.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English to perform functions of the position.
• Skills in basic computer operation.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
