Job summary

Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology seeks a versatile Clinical Assistant to provide direct patient care under physician and nursing supervision, and to support clinical research and clerical tasks. You will room patients, collect data, enter into the EHR, and prepare notes and packets for visits.

A Bachelor of Science in Biology or a related field is preferred, with interest in pre-med or health programs. Proficiency in MS Office and medical terminology is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry or a related field.
• Prefer individuals with intention to enroll in pre-med, pre-PA, or other health-related educational programs.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients.
• Compile patient medical data and enter into EHR.
• Assist provider in exam room as requested.
• Enter patient vital signs.
• Review past medical records at physician's request.
• Prepare patient progress notes.
• Assist with triage of patient calls and document appropriately.
• Communicate pertinent patient data to physicians and nurses for quality care.
• Perform clerical duties in support of clinical research under the Clinical Research Coordinator.
• Collect, record and file patient study data.
• Input information into study database.
• Maintain subject files per study protocols.
• Assemble patient enrollment and visit packets.
• Clean and stock exam rooms; ensure equipment and supplies are available.
• Assist with chart/document preparation for appointments.
• Develop and maintain competency on clinical computer systems.
• Assist with prescription dissemination by reviewing chart and coordinating with pharmacy.
• Perform miscellaneous medical records and clerical duties as assigned.
• Assist supervisor, nurse and physician secretary as requested.
• Assist in obtaining prior authorizations for prescribed treatments.
• Fax documents as requested.
• Participate in practice improvements by identifying workflow improvements.
