Job summary

Mount Sinai West in New York seeks a Social Worker for the Comp Psych Emerg Prog, full-time day shift (Thu/Fri/Sat, 7:30am–8:30pm). You assess patients and families and develop psychosocial interventions within an acute care setting.

You will participate in rounds, coordinate services, document in medical records, and may supervise social work interns. NY LMSW licensure is required; MSW preferred. This role supports Mount Sinai’s mission to deliver compassionate, comprehensive care.

Qualifications

• Masters in Social Work from an accredited school of social work.
• Related experience in the social service and/or health care field, preferably one year in a medical setting, which can include related field placement.

Responsibilities

• Develop options and treatment plans in a timely manner.
• Provide direct service to patients and families selecting treatment modality casework technique compatible with assessment and identified goals.
• Ability to identify, select, access and make referrals to appropriate community resources.
• Monitor, coordinate, manage activities for high-risk psychosocial patients to ensure implementation of multiple services.
• Advocate for patients and families by interpreting their needs to and eliciting cooperation from other disciplines and community agencies.
• Identify and assist team in managing obstacles to treatment and/or discharge plans.
• Provide psycho-education for patients and families.
• Knowledge of child protection, elder abuse, domestic violence policies and protocols.
• Participate interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, staff meetings.
• Document in the medical record in accordance with standards set by Department of Social Work and/or regulatory agencies.
• May supervise social work interns.
