Job summary

Mercy University is seeking a Simulation Lab Assistant to support the Simulation Center and Director of Simulation. The role ensures smooth daily operation of nursing simulation labs and prepares high- and low-fidelity environments for student experiences.

The candidate will manage inventory, assist faculty and students during simulations, and help with OSCEs, labs, and skill sessions. A healthcare-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.

Qualifications

• Requires experience in a healthcare simulation lab.
• Familiarity with healthcare terminology, basic medical supplies, and patient safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Prepare simulation rooms and mannequins according to course objectives and faculty blueprints (e.g., moulage, IV lines, medications, and clinical props).
• Power up, test, and troubleshoot simulators, AV recording systems, and EHR software prior to student arrival.
• Maintain an authentic clinical environment and ensure patient care bays look like a live hospital setting.
• Provide in-sim assistance by operating simulators and serving as standardized patient or embedded participant during mock codes and clinical scenarios.
• Monitor student safety and guide proper equipment usage during lab sessions and independent practice.
